Columbia Sportswear Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Strategy. Advancing traditional Finance & Accounting functions, the organization is also driving exciting innovation in the application of advanced analytics and automated intelligence.
As Sr Credit Analyst you will be responsible for engaging the credit, collections, chargebacks, and cash applications for our North America business. Here you’ll support growth within the region while reducing potential risks to Columbia Sportswear.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Help oversee the credit & collections activities in adherence to our Credit Policies. You’ll assist with timely collections, negotiating, and bankruptcy proceedings. You’ll be responsible for the resolution of disputes and determining appropriate collection action for problem accounts once collection efforts are exhausted
- Review & process annual credit limit approvals up to $1M. You’ll review new credit applications, determine creditworthiness, and establish lines of credit following the credit limit authority matrix. Meet with customers to establish relationships and review financial statements
- Monitor customer credit risk on an ongoing basis through working with credit reporting agencies, industry credit groups, and monitors economic news sources. Continuously monitor the aging of accounts for North America customers to ensure adequate actions are being taken
- Support the chargeback process to ensure prompt processing of claims, collection of denied claims, and resolution of disputed claims
- Reports to the Credit Manager located at our US headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Establish and maintain close working relationships with Sales, Accounts Operations, Finance & Operations to ensure the maximization of revenue in conjunction with the control of risk
- Evaluate and determine the adequacy of the Bad Debt Reserve & Chargeback reserves recommending adjustments as required. Regularly forecasts these reserves and explains variances to forecast monthly
YOU ARE
- Analytical and adept at interpreting financial information
- A strong negotiator, relying on business partnership and influencing skill
- Computer savvy, maintaining proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Highly organized and capable of prioritizing projects
- Detail centric
YOU HAVE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or relevant educational background
- 4+ years’ experience in a credit environment with increasingly higher levels of responsibility – a preference for retail credit experience
- Thorough knowledge of financial statement analysis and accounting practices, including accrual accounting methods. Ability to analyze accounting and/or credit documents for accuracy and challenge questionable data
- Proficiency in an ERP system, preferably in SAP
